You might also see some tourist spots along the way too!

With the potential for spotting white-tailed and golden eagle, seals, otters, hen harrier and merlin, or maybe even spotting marine life such as whales and dolphins from stunning, elevated positions - there is something for everyone, not forgetting the beautiful flora that can be observed. Local breeding specialities include corncrake and red-necked phalarope in season.

Definitely add us to your ‘things to do’ while in Stornoway and the Isle of Lewis and Harris. We will require a completed booking form and either your deposit or full payment within 48 hours of booking please to secure your trip. Thank you.

What's Included?

  • Our tours are normally Private to you but can be combined with others to make up numbers if you are part of a larger group travelling together (such as on a visiting cruise ship), or you have other friends or family visiting for example. The per person rates are shown in the table below.
  • Our wildlife guides are all professionals working in ecology, conservation, or similar wildlife-themed fields.
  • Our tours do not include food or drink as we prefer to recommend bringing a packed lunch with you so you do not lose valuable wildlife-watching time making a stop along the way. We will make a comfort stop of course and are happy to talk to you about including other stops along the way if there was something you were particularly hoping to see.
  • Please bring your own binoculars if you have them, but your guide will typically carry a scope along with binoculars so you will have a chance to look through that should something special be found.
  • Dress in layers ideally so you can add or subtract as the weather changes. Hiking boots or stout shoes are a good idea if you wish to walk, and a waterproof/windproof  jacket and a hat are usually worth having even if it starts off  warm and sunny!
  • Most tours start and end in Stornoway for convenience but please talk to us if you are staying elsewhere on Lewis or Harris.
  • We have a minibus for larger groups, but may also use other 4x4 vehicles for smaller parties or individuals.
  • If you like to walk and explore, we are happy to take you away from the vehicle in some locations and you can note this on the Booking Form. If you are less mobile then that is not a problem either. Most locations we visit are away from busy areas and offer good wildlife watching from where we stop.
