2027 Hebridean Adventures Cruise Calendar Now Live

St Kilda, the Continental Shelf & Our Longest Voyage Yet

We’re delighted to launch our 2027 Hebrides cruise programme — a collection of carefully crafted voyages exploring Scotland’s west coast at its most remote and rewarding.

Our itineraries reflect the places we know best and the style of travel that works beautifully from a small expedition vessel — unhurried, flexible, and shaped as much by wildlife and sea conditions as by charts and plans.

For 2027, two standout voyages lead the calendar:

Both journeys combine remote island landings, exceptional wildlife opportunities, and the quiet depth that defines small ship cruising in Scotland.

St Kilda Cruise with Hebridean Adventures

The Great Hebridean Adventure (13 Nights)
Departing 16 June 2027

Our most ambitious voyage yet, The Great Hebridean Adventure is a 13-night expedition through the wild heart of the Hebrides.

This extended itinerary allows us to properly explore three of Scotland’s most iconic island groups:

  • St Kilda – UNESCO World Heritage Site, seabird capital of the North Atlantic
  • Flannan Isles – remote, dramatic and steeped in maritime lore
  • Shiant Isles – basalt cliffs alive with seabirds

But the headline names are only part of the story.

En route, we plan to explore a remarkable mix of inhabited and abandoned islands including:

  • Vatersay
  • The Monach Isles
  • Scarp
  • Taransay

We also spend time along the dramatic coastline of the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles — Canna, Eigg, Muck and Rum — each offering its own wildlife, geology and cultural history.

Why 13 Nights Makes a Difference

Many Hebrides cruises touch these islands briefly. This voyage is designed differently.

With nearly two weeks at sea, we can:

  • Allow generous time ashore
  • Adjust plans to maximise wildlife sightings
  • Wait for weather windows to land at more challenging sites

This is a true expedition cruise, created for those who want depth as well as distance.

St kilda

St Kilda and the Continental Shelf
Departing 5 August 2027
With Chris Gomersall

In 2027, we return to this classic offshore route, regularly undertaken by Hjalmar Bjorge with Mark, the vessel’s previous owner, and plan to push as far west as conditions safely allow.

Joining us is wildlife photographer and long-standing expedition guide Chris Gomersall, whose knowledge of seabirds and cetaceans adds real depth to time spent on deck.

What Makes This Expedition Special?

  • Peak cetacean season in the Hebrides
  • Opportunity to reach the shelf edge – a zone of rich marine productivity
  • Flexible routing dictated by weather and wildlife
  • Combination of offshore exploration and island landings

Our intended route includes St Kilda and parts of the Western Isles, also known as the Outer Hebrides.

There will also be opportunities to land on islands such as Mingulay and Vatersay, alongside selected islands in the Inner Hebrides — blending offshore wildlife exploration with cultural and historical discovery.

As with all our voyages, sightings and observations will be logged using the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust’s Whale Track app, contributing to long-term marine research and conservation.

This is a genuine St Kilda expedition cruise — shaped by curiosity, conditions and the possibility of remarkable encounters.
