Skye & The Small Isles
Departing from Mallaig, the Small Isles of Canna, Rum, Eigg and Muck sit to the south of the Isle of Skye and provide a fascinating variety of land and seascapes of their own alongside their more famous brethren. Visit and set foot on them all with us whilst watching out for wildlife along the way.
With the larger Hebridean islands all seeing an increase in traffic and visitors these days, escaping to the sea is a great way to cruise around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland whilst avoiding the crowds.
Cruising with us on board MV Monadhliath from Mallaig at the end of the Road to the Isles as well as the West Highland railway line, also allows you to see and explore some of the less visited of the Hebrides, in this case the group known as the Small Isles of Canna, Rum, Eigg and Muck. We also include the Isle of Skye too, their neighbour to the north, so you can enjoy views of the famous Cuillins from the sea - photo opportunity anyone!?
Each of the Small Isles has its own character and we will take time to explore each one, going ashore if conditions allow so we can have a closer look and a stretch of our legs. Of course in these wild areas the amount and variety of nature you will encounter can be astonishing. Our experienced guides are constantly on the lookout for all sorts of marine and coastal species such as whales, dolphins, porpoise, otters, seals, eagles and a myriad of seabirds amongst others.
Relax in our comfortable saloon enjoying freshly cooked and prepared meals and fall asleep to the gentle lapping of the water in our sheltered anchorages each evening, serenaded by splashing seals and maybe the cry of a sea eagle overhead.
**Please note that whilst we try to make these trips accessible to everyone, the boat is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the compact spaces and steep stairs descending to the cabins.
**Under 14s must be accompanied by a responsible adult on our overnight expeditions.
