Our four day journey will see you exploring some of the most stunning Scottish scenery anywhere in Scotland. There will be an abundance of wildlife to view and you will get the chance to see and explore parts of the coastline that only those traveling by sea can. The Hebridean Adventures crew and guides will keep you busy spotting this wealth of wildlife that could incude whales, dolphins, eagles, seals and loads more!
Each day you will get the opportunity to sea kayak in some of the most remote and breathtaking environments Scotland has to offer whilst enjoying the comfort of being based on board MV Monadhliath. Our home from home, the Monadhliath offers comfortable private twin rooms along with a drying room and a comfortable salon. All meals are included and prepared by the crew of the boat, giving you the time to relax and enjoy your holiday.
Our journey begins with us meeting in Inverness. Collection can be made from the airport, train station or a hotel/B&B of your choice. We will then shuttle you up to Ardmair, just north of Ullapool, where our journey will begin. Your bags will be collected by the crew from MV Monadhliath, our floating base for this adventure, and transported out to the boat while we will get ready in our sea kayaks. This first day will see us getting used to our sea kayaks, learning the basic skills needed for the rest of the holiday and spending valuable time honing them. We will then travel out to the waiting boat in our sea kayaks where your bags will already be on board.
Today will see us exploring Loch Ewe and the Isle of Ewe. This fascinating area is rich in 1st and 2nd World War history with old jetties and war memorials on the coastline, and was the staging area for the infamous Arctic Convoys of WWII heading for Russian ports. The area is still used today by the military and regularly has warships visit. We will also get the chance to explore the Isle of Ewe with its small seal colony and sheltered beach coves.
Our third day will see us in the beautiful Loch Gairloch. We will be exploring the islands and the rich wildlife that inhabits this area. The coastline we will be kayaking along has small sea cliffs and a few wee caves that will be amazing to explore and are rich in bird life. There is also the small inlet village of Badachro that we will pass through with its small mooring bay; it is one of the most picturesque locations on the West Coast of Scotland.
Our final day sees us head back up the coast to Ardmair and Ullapool. We will bid our farewells to the boat whilst at sea and board our sea kayaks in Loch Broom. Your luggage will be ferried to the mainland by the ship’s crew, and we will get the chance to explore this stunning open coast line. The cliffs are tall in this area and the landscape is massive with some stunning mountain scenery as your backdrop, giving you a true sense of the scale of the West Coast. Upon landing, your bags will be waiting for you and you will be transported back to Inverness.
